So Excited

I'm so excited to report - I am currently adding content to my soon to be ready website! Woot! It'll be a few days but I'm so happy it's almost up.

There are things...

You can control & others you can not. I know that I have a really pretty website (no, I'm not crazy). It is designed but not LIVE. I really, really, wish it were live. I also wish I had access to put all the tons of things that need to be put in place there. But unfortunately I have zero control over either.

I didn't want place holder, so I put this blog up instead while the kinks were worked out of the site. But it turns out I've not followed through on the blog. When the new shiny site goes up I do have plans for weekly blog content. I'm actually excited about it. I look forward to doing it, but until then I'm making no promises. sigh. All I've been doing is worrying if I will have a real site up before the first book releases - the countdown has started, it's under one month away.

Heather Graham's Writers for New Orleans

I had a great weekend! Learned a few writerly things - compeltely enjoyed the panels. Great networking opportunies, I met many really wonderful writers I hope to cross paths with again someday.

I pitched by the seat of my pants, which considering that is how I write - and I know the two stories I was pitching inside and out - worked well for me - though I don't think I would recommended it to most writers!

A couple of pitrates from the Saturday night dinner theater, Kathy Love and Erin McCarthy - the reason I picked these pirates is because of the 1st picture - I just LOVED Kathy Love's pirate boots :)

Oh and I WON the query letter contest for the conference, so that was very exciting!

This and that week..

Crazy days. Both kids needed up to date vaccinations and both were sick during the summer when the time came around for their check ups. So today was the event - both girls, three shots each. The oldest was a trouper, though she didn't want to be. The little one on the hand, loves her doctor, and was excited to go see her even though she knew there would be shots. Until... the last shot that burned, and she kicked everyone in sight - while screaming at the top of her lungs until our entire community heard her.

Then we hit the store for a treat and a couple of Red Box movies. We'll be watching 17 Again and The Hanna Montana movies while doing little else the rest of the day!

Besides Monday fun, I'm working on a query, because this coming weekend I will be attending the Heather Graham Writer's for New Orleans conference. Three wishes for no hurricanes this year!!!

Un-plug and re-charge

Tons of stuff accomplished for the HeartLA Readers Luncheon yesterday. Then family stuff, church and shopping.

Line edits made their way to my in-box, so I'll tackle those and read through TBOS one last time before it goes off to be turned into the finished product with all the bells and whistles.

My house shows my lack of time over the past couple of weeks between a last minute vacation, school starting, dh working out of town and just plain old lack of enthusiasm over cleaning has made quite the challenge.

So I'm unplugging and recharging today - TBOS, my self and my house.

Cover, Official Blurb and Release date!

The Official Blurb:

THE BUSINESS OF SEX

With Lee in her life, Laurel doesn’t need the props she peddles.

Laurel Delacroix owns and operates The Rubber Tree, a sexual necessities shop, on Bourbon Street. She’s spirited and independent, but when the man by whom she measures all others reappears in her life, she can’t resist tempting fate. She might not do relationships, but she craves sex. And sex with her inspiration for The Rubber Tree is the best she’s ever had.

Lee Carter is used to women dropping at his feet, but Laurel is different. She’s a challenge in every way. When he finds out about the threats she’s receiving, along with her store being vandalized and her condo torn to shreds, he’ll do anything to protect her…and make her see they belong together permanently.

Content warning: This story contains explicitly fun sex and strong language.

And a release date: October 19!

Oh and it's up - check it out ~

It's almost here

I don't think I have looked forward to the start of school this much since I was a kid, bored with summer. Yes, bored with summer happened for me. I liked school - crazy I know!

But this year - oh my gosh, I just can't wait. I crave routine more and more each year and this is the first time both my kids will be in school with a set schedule! Woohooo!

I very little control over the hours of my day job, but I can work them around the girls school hours somewhat. Plus - I must buckle down and get back to my WIP. It was abandoned for edits, as I'd written The Business of Sex a good while ago, it needed much work and it took a lot of energy. I do believe it is a much, much better book because of the editing, and now I am getting excited waiting for the release date too!

During our short trip I came up with a plan for the blog... and I'm working on emlimenting it over the next month or so - and by then I hope to have my actual site up and working... please!

Back at it...

Summer is coming to an end... my baby started PreK, my older one returns to middle school next week. Summer is over. We have one more planned shopping day to get ready for her return to school. It never fails to amaze me how much time it takes to pick out a pair of shoes or a book-bag when you are in middle school!

We took a quick trip to the coast before returning to a schedule next week... a few pictures

Update to progress

I've been giving the ole (okay new) blog a great deal of thought. Actually to be honest I've been giving my writing persona a great deal of thought. My youngest child starts preK on Monday, my oldest returns to middle school the following week, both girls, both pretty high maintenance when they want to be... Let me just say I love routine, I crave routine. While I've loved being home (working from home) a good bit this summer, our lack of routine has pretty much driven me insane.

So... We are heading to coast for a long weekend and I'm taking with a shiny new notebook and a shiny new pen (or six) - school supplies galore! And I'm not writing, but I will be polishing some ideas for the blog and the writing persona in general.

I've got one idea I am totally committed too - I love it, and I really, really hope it is something I can make work, because it just came to me and it's something I've never stumbled across in all the blogs I read (thank you google reader, you are life saver!). And it is something I would love to see and I think others would like it too!

The Cover...

Progress

Progress is a good thing... I signed a contact with Lyrical Press, Inc. back in March. My first release - The Business of Sex will be out in October.

I stopped posting to the old blog around that time... hoping to have a new site up and running by October - and I still have high hopes that will actually happen. But for now... this lovely blog will have to do, because quit frankly it was easy for me to fall out of blog writing... and it's something I had really started to enjoy... so I will work on this for now and hold out for the new skin - new website unveiling, until a little closer to release date, besides, I'm cooking up a contest idea to go along with the unveiling and the release!

The delay which is really random in rhyme and reason, should be resolved shortly... I hope!

July, while busy with edj (evil day job - okay I really, really like my job, but still it is w-o-r-k and takes away from writing!) and edits, was good to me... I got my cover - which I'll post shortly!
